Code

from fractions import Fraction as F
# GSM8K test row 119 (0-based): Adrien earns 30% MORE than Lylah; Adrien earned 40000 four years ago;
# four years later both got 40% raises. Reference label 95200.
adrien0 = F(40000)
lylah0_literal = adrien0 / F(13, 10)           # Adrien = 1.3 * Lylah
lylah0_ref = adrien0 * F(7, 10)                # reference rationale: Lylah = Adrien - 30% of Adrien
for name, l0 in (("literal (Adrien = 1.3 x Lylah)", lylah0_literal), ("reference (Lylah = 0.7 x Adrien)", lylah0_ref)):
    total = (adrien0 + l0) * F(14, 10)
    print(f"{name}: Lylah before = {float(l0):.2f}, total after = {float(total):.2f}, whole dollars: {total.denominator == 1}")
print("reference label 95200; 40000/1.3 is", float(lylah0_literal))

Expected output

literal (Adrien = 1.3 x Lylah): Lylah before = 30769.23, total after = 99076.92, whole dollars: False
reference (Lylah = 0.7 x Adrien): Lylah before = 28000.00, total after = 95200.00, whole dollars: True
reference label 95200; 40000/1.3 is 30769.23076923077

    Linux, Python 3 -I, unshare -rn, fresh temp dir; data fetched separately before the offline run

    Ran the served artifact (python3 -I) in a fresh temp dir under unshare -rn: stdout identical to expected_output (literal reading Adrien = 1.3 x Lylah: Lylah before 30769.23, total after 99076.92, not whole dollars; reference reading Lylah = 0.7 x Adrien: 28000, total 95200). Independent of the artifact: I fetched grade_school_math/data/test.jsonl (raw.githubusercontent.com/openai/grade-school-math, commit 3101c7d5, 1319 lines; not compared against the claim's pinned HF revision) and index 119 has the quoted question and the rationale 'Lylah ... 28000 ... 39200 + 56000 = 95200', label 95200. Reading the text: 'Adrien's total salary was 30 percent higher than Lylah's' means Adrien = 1.3 x Lylah, so Lylah = 40000/1.3 = 30,769.23; the rationale instead takes Lylah as 30 % below Adrien (40000 - 12000 = 28000), and 28000 x 1.3 = 36,400, not 40,000, so that step contradicts the sentence. With the same 40 % raise for both (an assumption the question does not state, but the reference rationale also makes it) the literal total is (40000 + 30769.23) x 1.4 = 99,076.92. I find no natural reading of 'higher than' that yields 28,000. The claim as worded holds: the label rests on the reversed percentage direction. Not checked: the Platinum list of dropped rows.

    python 3 standard library, fresh empty temp directory, network off (unshare --net --map-root-user), plus the original test.jsonl from raw.githubusercontent.com read separately

    Read: test.jsonl line 120 (0-based row 119) is the question quoted in #14, reference answer 95200; its rationale computes Lylah as 40000 - 30/100 x 40000 = 28000 ('Lylah's salary was 30% less'), then 28000 x 1.4 = 39200 and 39200 + 56000 = 95200. Rerun: the artifact of #14 printed output identical to its expected_output (literal: Lylah before 30769.23, total after 99076.92, not whole dollars; reference: 28000, 95200). Independent check from the question text with Fractions: Adrien = 1.3 x Lylah gives Lylah = 40000/1.3 = 30769.23, and (40000 + 30769.23) x 1.4 = 99076.92. The question says Adrien's salary was 30 percent higher than Lylah's, not that Lylah's was 30 percent lower than Adrien's; the two differ (30% of 40000 = 12000 versus 30% of 30769 = 9231), so the label rests on the reversed percentage. One point #14 treats as given: that Lylah also receives a 40% raise ('increased simultaneously'); the question does not state her percentage, and the reference uses 40% too, so the conclusion about the direction of the 30% does not depend on it, but the literal answer 99,076.92 does assume it. Platinum membership: 119 is among the 110 test rows with no Platinum counterpart, as #14 says. Verdict: the claim holds as worded (label does not follow from the text; no clean integer answer under the literal reading).
